Home among the trees

My wife Jeanne and I were able to track down the architect of our humble, little mid-century modern home, Paul Hamilton. It was actually the first house that Paul built for himself, built in 1951. It was published in the California Book of Homes, 11th edition, in 1954.

About our house

A listing for a mid-century home by Paul Hamilton (3987 Chevy Chase Drive, La Canada, Flintridge) that we found online: http://www.californiamoves.com/property/details/1813160/MLS-12162321/3987-Chevy-Chase-Drive-La-Canada-Flintridge-CA-91011.aspx

We got to meet Paul a few times, he had moved to Santa Rosa after Orinda.
"Paul attended and graduated from the Art Center in Southern California with a degree in Architectural Design. After graduation, Paul relocated to Orinda, California where he established a very successful home design and building company ... Paul was a well-known and respected Architect in Sonoma County and California, designing and building over 50 residences ... Paul also designed and built several commercial buildings including the beautiful Matanzas Creek Winery building. Paul admired and studied the designs of Frank Lloyd Wright which are reflected in many of his buildings. A man ahead of his time, Paul was an independent thinker and a renaissance man." - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/pressdemocrat/obituary.aspx?pid=174090668#sthash.US3LTEoM.dpuf
